Illustrate a whole manuscript

Upload your novel. Get it illustrated.

Upload your finished novel. WideSpool reads every chapter, designs each character once, then illustrates the whole book automatically.

Mowgli sits cross-legged on a mossy rock under a full moon, with Baloo, Bagheera, Shere Khan, Kaa and a mongoose around him in the jungle.

How it works

  1. Upload your manuscript

A Word, PDF, EPUB or .txt file up to 30 MB, or pasted text. Any length.

  2. Approve the cast

Change any character, place or style before drawing starts.

  3. Get every chapter illustrated

Choose Make it for me and every planned scene is drawn. Then retouch and export an EPUB.

About $39 for a typical novel.

Questions

What can I bring?

WideSpool shines with stories full of people and places: novels, memoirs, travel tales, children’s books. Every character and setting gets its own look, kept the same from the first chapter to the last.

Writing a memoir? Choose “I’ll direct it” and add the real people in setup, each with a photo. The pictures will follow them.

You must have the rights to the book you upload. That means you wrote it, the author gave you permission, or it’s in the public domain where you live.

Upload a Word (.docx), PDF, EPUB or .txt file up to 30 MB, or paste your text.

Can I change a picture or keep characters consistent?

Shared reference pictures help carry the same characters and visual direction across scenes, but AI can still get details wrong. In Studio, give instructions for a whole picture or select an area to adjust. You can add references, rewrite a prompt for a redraw, compare versions, and choose an earlier picture. New drawings and adjustments use credits.

Do I have to draw the whole book at once?

No. Choose “I’ll direct it” to start after planning with one illustration and its required reference pictures, with their combined price shown before approval. You can then draw individual pictures or approve a whole-book batch. Starting with one picture leaves automatic drawing off. Or choose “Make it for me” when adding your book: WideSpool designs and draws all its planned pictures within your available credits. Once drawing starts, you can stop it.

How long does it take, and can I close the page?

Visual design proposal and illustration plan can each take 10 minutes or more. You review the proposed visual design between these two runs; drawing comes afterward. Accepted work continues if you close the page. We email you when the design or the prompts are ready to review, or when “Make it for me” has drawn every picture. Turn these emails off in Account.

Can I download my finished book?

Yes. Under This book → Export, choose EPUB for ebook readers, or Export my material for the text, pictures and prompts. Export uses your saved text and selected pictures; it does not draw missing artwork. Export is free, and a prepared file stays ready to download again.

What does it cost?

Most books: about $39.

Every picture is drawn by AI. That’s one 100-credit pack, enough for a typical novel with about 70 pictures. Long books with many pictures can need twice that.

  • Visual design and picture prompts: 30 credits per book
  • Each picture, redraw or edit: 1 credit
  • First 8 reference and cover pictures: included
  • Reading and export: no credits

Packs: 25 credits for $12, 100 for $39, or 300 for $99. No subscription.

Does WideSpool take ownership of my writing?

No. You keep the rights you already have in your writing and uploaded materials. WideSpool does not claim ownership of them. Using the service permits the processing and content review described below; it does not give WideSpool permission to publish your work.
